Ovarian tissue retransplantation in cancer patients first center in China

Ovarian tissue retransplantation for cancer patients : the first center cryobank in China Prof.Xiangyan Ruan MD.PhD. Department of Gynecological Endocrinology, Beijing Obstetrics &Gynecology Hospital, Capital Medical University,Beijing,China The effect of cancer treatment has made great progress during the last decades. The main aim is the highest "overall survival", but "quality of life" remains important also.Radiation therapy and chemotherapy can impair the ovarian function which may lead to infertility. This effect is dose and age dependence. Beside other methods, the cryopreservation of ovarian tissue before the cytotoxic treatment is a chance to restore the ovarian function in case of premature ovarian insufficiency after the cancer treatment. In 2016, the international fertility protection center in Beijing Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital, Capital Medical University has been retransplanted cryopreserved ovarian tissue in a patient with severe climacteric symptoms after cervical cancer therapy.After retransplantation three months, her ovarian function got recovery and the hormonal situation was normalized until now more than one year, this is the first case in China.up to now,we have done retransplantions for three patients in China and cryopreserved ovarian tissue more than 100. This report from the first ovarian tissue cryobank in China.. It is emergency need to educate all physicians treating patients with cancer are fully aware of the importance of protecting the ovarian function throughout the oncological therapy.
